How to get a two-wheeler driving license in India? Complete procedure.

Nowadays, the government has made all procedures online for acquiring a driving license in India. From the online application and document verification to the driving test date, all will be just available by filling out an online form right from your home.

So now it’s not like the old days when you have to walk around RTOs to acquire a driving license, nowadays you only need to fill online form for everything, such as for learner’s license, document verification, and final test appointment.

In India, there are two types of driving license, one is the “Learner’s license” and the other is the “Final driving license”. First of all, you have to apply for a fresh driving license and then you can apply for the final driving license.

Procedure to get a two-wheeler driving license-

  • Step 1

Visit “Sarthi Parivahan” website and select your state as shown below:

Now Just click on “Apply for learners license”, and then it will take you to the e-KYC page, where you have to verify your Adhar, or you can choose”verify without Adhar option”

  • Step 3

Now after Adhar or mobile number verification, you will be asked to fill in some necessary details as shown in the below image:

After filling and submitting the required documents, you have to pay the fee of around rupees 200.

Now you are done, the only thing you have to do is to book an appointment for the document verification and learner’s license.

Note: When you will visit your RTO office for the Learner’s license, you also have to get an online test of 15 marks, where you have to score at least 9 marks. The online test will be MCQ based type of common transport-related question.

Rules of Learner’s license?

Now you have successfully booked and had a valid learner’s license with you, but you have to know some rules of a learner’s license.

  • You can apply for the final driving license, 3 months after the learner’s license and not more than 9 months.
  • You cannot drive a vehicle alone while holding the learner’s license, you will need a person sitting behind you with a valid driving license since he will act as an instructor.
  • The vehicle you are driving while holding the learner’s license should have an “L” mark pasted both in the front and rear of the vehicle.
  • A learner’s license holder cannot drive the vehicle more than 45 km/h.

Final driving license

Now it has been 3 months since the learner’s license, now you can apply for the driving license in the following steps.

  • Now again visit “Sarthi Parivahan” select your state and click on “Driving license”.
  • Now you have to enter your “Learner’s License Number” which you have received in SMS as shown below:

  • Now you have to enter all your details, upload documents, and book a driving test slot with a date and time.
  • Now you have to pay a fee for the test and driving license card of around 700 to 800 rupees.

How to give a driving license test?

The physical driving license test is the final step of getting a brand new driving license. In this step, you will have to visit your RTO office with a bike and a helmet.

The RTO officers will provide you with a two-wheeler test track, which looks like this:

In the above-shown test track, you have to drive your vehicle on the track without touching the ground with your feet.

Once you have successfully done your driving test, your driving license will reach your address within 15 days via India post.

  • blood group
  • License validity

  • Type of vehicle allowed (like a motorcycle with or without gear, heavy-duty vehicle, etc.)
