So before heading into the data recovery process, we should first understand the basics of the mechanism behind the data extraction process.
In the world of electronic data storage, the data never gets deleted but it may be overwritten. The simple delete option never erase data forever, it only gets disappeared in the operating system interface but can be easily recovered by deep scan process.
In order to understand the data recovery in detail, just take the example of a computer hard drive. The hard drive in our computer is a “non-volatile solid state drive”, which means that once the computer is turned off the data will still be present there.
In the conventional hard disk, the data is written in the form of electronic language by a laser beam on a plain steel plate which rotates at a speed of 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm.
So once the data is recorded on that rotating plate present in the hard drive will not be deleted by pressing the shift+delete buttons.
Even after you have manually deleted the data, the storage media will be still present there. The only thing that will happen is that the operating system will mark that data-id with a temporary delete shadow and that data will not be visible in the operating system until the space occupied by that data gets overwritten by another one.
So till now, we have learned that the data never gets deleted, it can be only overwritten.

Data recovery in android
The data recovery process in computer vs mobile is a completely different task. In the case of mobile phones, the data recovery process is hard to perform and may not be done by a non-technical person.
Since there is very less freedom in the mobile operating system when compared to the computer OS. The mobile operating system provides very limited options and permissions because of security reasons.

Software level data recovery
The software level data recovery is not a guaranteed solution in the case of smartphone data recovery. The software level recovery process may or may not work for you as it also depends on the type of OS (android or IOS) and the model of your phone.
The biggest problem with the software-level data recovery in smartphones is that the phone must be rooted. Without rooting your mobile phone, you may not retrieve deleted data.
The rooting of a smartphone involves- breaking and violating the security features of the smartphone which may later result in permanent damage to the operating system of your phone.
The software-level data recovery will only work for you if your phone is rooted, as the rooting process disables all the important security features of mobile phones.
So the deep scan for the deleted data in the smartphone will only work when the phone is rooted, and this is the biggest drawback of the software-level data recovery
How to recover WhatsApp deleted photos and media?
So in order to get your deleted WhatsApp data back, the following options may work for you.
- 1st method– If you have a google drive account linked with your WhatsApp, then you can go to “settings”, then on the “chats option” scroll down to “chat backup” and then click on the “backup button”.
If you have not linked google drive with WhatsApp then just click the “select google account” inside “chats backup”.
- 2nd method– If your deleted data is too much important for you, then just root your phone and then install software called “FonePaw android data recovery“, and follow the below instructions:
I) Download and install the FonePaw application on your computer or laptop.
II) Now link your mobile phone with a computer with a USB cable.
III) Now go to your phone settings, then click on “about phone”, then select “software information”, and click multiple times on the “build number option” until you get the message “developer mode has been enabled”.
Now again go back to settings and scroll down to “developer options” search for “USB debugging” and enable it.
IV) Now you are done, just select the options “WhatsApp” and “WhatsApp attachments” and run a deep scan. After the scanning process gets completed, you may probably get your lost WhatsApp data.
- 3rd method– If you don’t want to go with the software level recovery and maybe the software level recovery is not working for you, then you can use the most trusted option which is “chip level data recovery”.
The chip-level data recovery requires a special technician experience to carefully remove the eMMC storage device chip from the mobile’s motherboard.
After the chip has been removed successfully, just put that chip in the eMMC chip adapter and use a data recovery software like “EaseUS data recovery” to recover your data.
So these were the only limited methods for WhatsApp data recovery. There are no other methods that you can use to recover the deleted WhatsApp media.
